Introduction
Research Group made by staff in the Applied Mathematics, Statistics and Operational Research Department and the Applied Economics III Department (Econometrics and Statistics), both at the University of the Basque Country.
Our aim is to foster interaction and exploit synergies among people in different areas of Statistics and Mathematical Optimization. We strive to keep a balance between theory and applications.
Members of the group have backgrounds in Economics, Statistics and Mathematical Optimization. They have developed expertise, among other topics, in:
- Multivariate methods for analysis of big contingency tables.
- Dimensionality reduction techniques and Data Mining.
- Computable general equilibrium models.
- Single and multiperiod optimization, with and without uncertainty.
- Imputation of missing data.
- Statistical methods applied to Marketing, particularly segmentation.
- Time series analysis.
- Index numbers, in particular with partially observed information.
- Algoritmic development for large-scale stochastic optimization.
